ONCE THE FLUFFY FEEDER BECAME PART OF OUR DAILY ROUTINE, EVERYTHING CHANGED

"I received a Fluffy Feeder for trial a few months ago, and now I wouldn’t give it up for anything. Initially, I was looking for something to keep my horse entertained in her stall during the evenings, as she had developed the bad habit of cribbing before we moved to a new stable. However, once the Fluffy Feeder became part of our daily routine, everything changed. The cribbing has almost completely stopped since my mare is now more focused on working with the feeder rather than engaging in unwanted behaviors. Eating from the Fluffy Feeder takes time, but she never gets frustrated—rather, she enjoys the process and always empties it first, even though hay is available elsewhere as well.

My mare now gets her evening hay from both the Fluffy Feeder and a hay net. We use the larger Fluffy, which we fill with a little over three kilos of hay, sometimes more. The rest of her evening hay goes into the hay net. At first, I was worried about whether she would be able to eat all the hay from the sides once the feeder emptied. However, this has never been an issue—the Fluffy Feeder is completely empty every morning, even if there is still hay left in the net.

When considering enrichment options, my top priority was safety. Whatever I introduced into my mare’s stall had to be safe. Heica’s feeders are absolutely durable against biting, tearing, horse shoes, and tossing around. The netting section of the feeder is made of such thick fabric that studs can’t get stuck in it, and I don’t see any other risks of entanglement either. I have watched my horse eat from the Fluffy Feeder many times, and each time, I’ve felt even more reassured that there’s no risk of accidents. The feeder also withstands heavy use—I’ve seen my horse try all sorts of tricks to get the hay out, yet after months of use, our Fluffy Feeder still has no signs of wear or broken parts.

The company’s customer service is also top-notch, and I have nothing but good things to say about them and their products. I will never give up the Fluffy Feeder—it will remain an essential part of my and my horse’s daily routine.”

When there is a natural need to explore and forage for food, but the only option available is one big round bale in the paddock

I want to compare the horse world to the dog world again, because feeding practices for dogs are way ahead of those for horses. Especially when it comes to enrichment and supporting dogs’ behavioural needs through feeding. Round big bale in the paddock does not activate horses the way feeding should.
